Job Summary:
The Chief Operations and Asset Officer (COAO) will oversee the organization’s operational efficiency, strategic asset management, and process implementation initiatives. Reporting directly to the CEO, the COAO will be a critical leader in aligning organizational goals with streamlined processes and sustainable growth strategies, particularly in real estate and nonprofit sectors. This role requires a dynamic and strategic leader who excels at building scalable systems, managing diverse portfolios, and fostering organizational innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations Management:
- Develop and implement operational strategies, policies, and procedures that improve organizational efficiency and align with the nonprofit’s mission.
- Oversee day-to-day operational activities, ensuring compliance with industry standards, nonprofit regulations, and organizational goals.
- Lead cross-functional teams to streamline workflows, enhance communication, and drive process improvements.
Asset Management:
- Manage the organization’s real estate portfolio, including acquisitions, maintenance, leasing, and disposition.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure asset performance aligns with the nonprofit’s financial and mission-driven objectives.
- Conduct regular assessments of real estate assets to optimize value and identify opportunities for improvement or expansion.
Strategic Leadership:
- Partner with the executive team to develop long-term strategies that support organizational growth and sustainability.
- Analyze operational data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to inform strategic decisions.
- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement across the organization.
Financial Oversight:
- Work closely with the CFO to develop budgets, forecast expenses, and ensure financial sustainability of assets and operations.
- Identify and secure funding opportunities related to real estate and operational initiatives.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Build and maintain relationships with community partners, donors, investors, and other stakeholders to advance the organization’s mission.
- Represent the organization at public events, industry conferences, and key meetings.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Real Estate, Nonprofit Management, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in operations, asset management, or executive leadership, preferably in the nonprofit or real estate sectors.
- Proven track record of implementing scalable systems and processes in complex organizations.
- Strong knowledge of real estate management, including acquisitions, leasing, and compliance.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
