Job Title: Director of Finance & Accounting
Location: Bowie, MD
Reports to: Chief Executive Office (CEO)
Position Overview: The Director of Finance & Accounting will lead the financial and accounting operations, ensuring integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of all financial reporting. This role requires a leader with a blend of persistence, strong business acumen, and ethical integrity to guide the organization toward achieving its financial goals. The Director will be responsible for financial planning, budgeting, reporting, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations, as well as maintaining effective risk management practices. In addition, the Director will provide oversight for the procurement team, ensuring alignment with financial goals and efficient resource management.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Financial Leadership
- Lead the development and execution of financial strategies that support the company’s overall business objectives.
- Utilize strong business acumen to assess financial implications of business decisions and provide actionable insights to senior leadership.
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Oversee budgeting and forecasting processes to ensure accuracy and alignment with strategic goals.
- Conduct financial analysis and modeling to support decision-making, ensuring data-driven insights.
Financial Reporting
- Ensure the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements in compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
- Present financial results to executive leadership, highlighting key metrics, risks, and opportunities.
Cost Management & Budgeting
- Develop and monitor departmental budgets and analyze variances, identifying opportunities for cost-saving and efficiency.
- Implement and enforce effective budgeting processes across departments.
Risk Management
- Identify financial and operational risks and implement measures to mitigate them.
- Establish risk management protocols to protect the company’s financial integrity.
Ethical Practice & Compliance
- Uphold the highest ethical standards in all financial operations and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Lead by example in fostering a culture of integrity and trustworthiness within the organization.
Problem Solving & Decision Making
- Apply analytical thinking to complex financial issues and drive effective solutions.
- Take initiative in addressing challenges proactively and lead in implementing best practices across financial and procurement functions.
Technology Optimization & Efficiency
- Leverage and enhance the organization’s existing accounting software and financial tools to improve efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.
- Identify opportunities to maximize the capabilities of current systems, streamline workflows, and automate processes where possible.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in finance or accounting, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Demonstrated expertise in cost management, budgeting, financial analysis, and reporting.
- Strong knowledge of accounting software and financial modeling tools.
- Proven track record of ethical practice and compliance.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
