Farm Hand (Organic Farming)
We are looking for a Farm Hand with knowledge of organic farming methods to join our team and assist with the upkeep and day-to-day operations of our 250-acre farm.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Perform general and organic farm operation duties such as mowing, bush hogging, landscaping, mulching, pulling weeds, trees, planting, etc.
- Assist with day-to-day operations of the barn and other facilities.
- Inspect the farm property for maintenance needs.
- Assist with upkeep, maintenance and repairs of the farm property and equipment.
- Assist with minor construction as directed by CEO and management.
- May assist in providing carpentry, painting, assembly and other responsibilities as needed.
- This position requires the ability to work both independently and with a team. Must have strong common sense while also being detail oriented and adhering to safety precautions.
Educational Background:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Experience and Skills:
- Minimum of two years in a similar or related role
- Organic farming knowledge and experience
- Good mowing, tractor operating, skid steer and other equipment operating skills required
- Good observation and communication skills: listening, oral and written
- Must be able to effectively communicate with management and CEO
- Building and grounds general maintenance
- Basic understanding of systems such as electrical, plumbing, HVAC is preferred
- Construction, repair and maintenance
- Ability to use hand tools such as shovel, hoes, pruning, shears, knives and ladders
- Ability to operate heavy farm machinery
- Ability to work in and with teams
· Ability to climb stairs and ladders, ability to stand, sit, bend, stoop, kneel and walk for lengthy periods of time
· Must be able to lift minimum of 100 lbs.
· Applicants must be able to successfully pass background check and have a good driving record with no DUI’s
· Must be self-motivated
Pay: $20.00 per hour
