About the Role
Join our mission-driven organization as the Major Gifts Director and make a significant impact in advancing our philanthropic goals. In this pivotal role, you will forge genuine relationships with our donors, cultivating and securing major and lead gifts. Your passion for our mission and exceptional communication skills will enable you to effectively convey the impact of our work through engaging, face-to-face conversations.
As part of your responsibilities, you will collaborate closely with the Chief Development Officer, leadership, and the Board of Trustees to craft and implement a comprehensive major gifts strategy that aligns with our objectives. You will support individual fundraising initiatives, successfully close five, six, and seven-figure gifts, and manage a diverse fundraising portfolio, all aimed at ensuring our long-term financial sustainability.
We're looking for a proactive and results-oriented leader with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (advanced degree preferred). You should have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in fundraising, sales, or business development, with a proven history of securing major gifts. Your strong fundraising knowledge, exceptional relationship-building skills, and strategic thinking capabilities will set you apart.
Proficiency in donor management software and CRM tools is essential, as well as a willingness to travel for donor meetings and organizational events (less than 10% travel). The ideal candidate will demonstrate leadership, excellent problem-solving abilities, and outstanding written and verbal communication skills, allowing you to craft compelling narratives and deliver persuasive asks. While experience in a nonprofit or mission-driven environment is preferred, it is not mandatory.
