Foundry Worker
The Molder Foundry Worker is a part of the Foundry team that works with sand casting mold and melted metals for production of our custom product lines.
Essential Functions:
- Performs any combination of following tasks in foundry concerned with melting metal, pouring metal into molds, removing castings from molds, dressing castings, moving foundry materials, and cleaning equipment and work areas: Moves sand, castings, flasks, or other materials about foundry by hand, using wheelbarrow or cart, or by loading them onto conveyor.
- Open hopper and dump sand into flask, compacts sand in flasks, using ramming tool. Fits together, clamps, and unclamps cope and drag on production line.
- Weighs out specified amounts of materials for furnace charge and loads charge into melting furnace.
- Skims slag from surface of molten metal, using scoop. Carries or ladles of molten metal by hand on and pours metal into molds.
- Installs and removes aluminum flask used to hold snap molds together during casting. Breaks sand mold from finished casting, using shakeout machine.
- Removes gates, risers and other projections from castings with cut off wheel or band saw.
- Sweeps and cleans work areas.
- May be designated: Mold Clamper; Mold-Closer Helper; Molder Helper; Molder Helper, Machine; Mold Stacker; Pattern Carrier; Pattern Cleaner; Sand-Screener Operator; Sand Shoveler; Sand Wheeler; Shake-Out Worker; Skimmer.
Requirements:
- High School or equivalent education
- Must demonstrate autonomy and initiative in daily activities.
- Must work well with others in a team atmosphere.
- Must maintain attendance and dependability out on the floor.
- Pre-employment drug screen required
Experience:
- Entry level position, no experience necessary
