Role Description
This is a full-time role for a Paralegal First Party Insurance to assist our attorneys an loss consultants from claim origination through trial. The Paralegal First Party Insurance will be responsible for performing a variety of duties that support attorneys in the litigation process, including client intake and communication, drafting and filing legal documents, conducting research, and organizing and maintaining files and calendars. The Paralegal will work closely with attorneys, clients, loss consultants, and insurance adjusters to ensure deadlines are met and cases move forward efficiently.
Bi-lingual candidates strongly preferred.
This is a forward facing position working directly with clients, loss consultants, adjuster, opposing counsel, and court staff. A sunny disposition and ability to be firm are a must.
Full job description
Seeking an Insurance Paralegal with 5 years’ of experience for our Hollywood office – 1st Party Property experience preferred.
· Work with loss consultants on file set up and claim filing
· Coordinate inspections with homeowners and insurance/public adjusters
· Prepare documents for filing with court including, NOIs, petitions, discovery, motions, and notices, etc.
· Set hearings, depositions, mediations and meetings for attorney
· Calendar deadlines for discovery, trial, etc.
· Scan and save all documents and mail into the file system.
· Prepare releases, invoices, and client statements for processing and payment.
· Update/Keep track of case list, trial list and closing of files
· Communicate with clients, loss consultants, opposing counsel, public adjusters, and vendors
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
Must be proficient in Word, Outlook, G-suite, Clio, Lexis , and Adobe Acrobat.
Salary commensurate with experience and all candidates must have a stable work history and verifiable references. Please provide salary requirement in order to be considered.
Qualifications
- Associate's, or Bachelor's degree, or Certificate in Paralegal Studies or related field
- Minimum of five years of experience in first party insurance litigation
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Clio, Claim Wizard, and G-Suite software programs
- Demonstrated ability to manage a high-volume caseload
- Experience in drafting pleadings, discovery requests, and motions
- E-file/E-serve proficiency
- NOI Filing
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong work ethic and ability to meet deadlines
- Spanish Speaking
