Responsibilities
- Handle the preparation and filing of any immigration benefits applications as delegated.
- Prepare case materials and file nonimmigrant petitions and applications with USCIS including E, L, H, TN, and O.
- Prepare and file immigrant petitions and applications including PERM, I-130, PERM based I-140 petitions, EB1A, B & C -based petitions and I-485 applications to adjust status.
- Removal Defense: Support all functions of removal proceedings litigation including the preparation of applications for relief from removal such as Cancellation of Removal, Asylum and Withholding of removal applications. Procure documents in support of applications, the preparations of affidavits/declarations and prepare, tab and paginate all immigration court filings.
- Review and organize client documentation and analyze and summarize case data for attorney.
- Assist attorney with determining potential case issues and planning case strategy.
- Draft legal documents, correspondence, and reports as required.
- Manage case files using document management systems to ensure all documentation is organized and accessible.
- Communicate regularly via phone and in writing with clients, beneficiaries, and various government agencies.
- Utilize Westlaw for legal research and case law analysis.
- Collaborate with team members on project management tasks to ensure timely completion of cases.
- Stay informed about changes in immigration laws and policies that may affect client cases.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in paralegal studies or a related field (will consider an associate's degree with a paralegal certification).
- Immigration experience preferred, but will consider other legal experience.
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to draft clear and concise legal documents.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team environment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $24.00 - $26.00 per hour
Expected hours: 37.5 per week
