Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Payroll and Benefits Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in benefits administration, certified payroll, construction payroll knowledge, and technical accounting, with experience in journal entries and general ledger accounting.
Duties
- Process, review and balance weekly payroll. Ensure payroll transactions are processed correctly for time, earnings, benefits, deductions, taxes, garnishments, and other items that affect pay &/or company liability.
- Responsible for compensation/payroll administration, reconciliations to General Ledger and other accounts.
- Analyze benefit plans and programs to ensure compliance with regulations
- Process employee enrollments, changes, and terminations in benefit plans
- Assist employees with benefit-related inquiries and issue resolution
- Conduct audits to verify accuracy of benefit deductions and vendor invoices
- Prepare reports on benefit utilization, costs, and trends
- Collaborate with HR team to implement new benefits programs or changes
- Maintain accurate records of employee benefits data
- File quarterly and end of year reports for compliance
Requirements
- Proven experience in a benefits and payroll administration role or similar position.
- Familiarity with general ledger accounting principles and construction payroll management processes.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data accurately
- Strong data entry skills with attention to detail for maintaining accurate records.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively assist employees.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Experience:
- Payroll:2 years (Preferred)
- Certified payroll experience:2 years (Preferred)
- Benefits administration: 2 years (Preferred)
