Project Engineering Lead (PEL) HD CV ADAS
Job Summary: The Project Engineering Lead (PEL) will spearhead a cross-functional development team to deliver automotive electronic products, achieving both project-specific and company-mandated targets. The PEL will act as the key technical liaison with the customer for all engineering topics throughout the development lifecycle of Stellantis HD CVADAS, ensuring the seamless execution of project deliverables and maintaining customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership & Coordination: Lead internal product development team meetings, ensuring timely completion of tasks and milestone achievements. Proactively manage resources, priorities, and execution strategies to meet project goals.
- Customer Interface: Serve as the primary technical point of contact for the customer and product development team, ensuring alignment of customer specifications with the engineering team s deliverables.
- Requirements Management: Interpret customer specifications and ensure that all engineering requirements are documented and incorporated into the product design. Collaborate in the development of mechanical, electrical, and software requirements and specifications.
- Design & Validation Oversight: Ensure that the design is thoroughly tested and analyzed to validate that it meets all customer requirements. Manage the product development lifecycle to ensure design robustness, manufacturability, and quality.
- Engineering Deliverables & Documentation: Ensure timely release of engineering work products (FMEA, FTA, WCA, Testability, Requirement Bilateral Traceability, etc.), manage part release, and oversee change control processes. Conduct technical reviews and approve work products.
- Problem-Solving & Issue Resolution: Lead failure analysis and problem-solving activities (8D), identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions. Resolve technical issues related to customer and product demands and communicate solutions to stakeholders.
- Engineering Process & Risk Management: Oversee adherence to internal processes and ensure all engineering activities follow established procedures. Manage engineering risks, prepare contingency plans, and escalate issues when necessary.
- Product Development Leadership: Own the overall product design, ensuring it meets both customer and project requirements. Facilitate cross-functional reviews (PLRs, CFRs) and communicate development status to management using dashboards and reports.
- Cost Optimization & Value Engineering: Actively contribute to cost savings initiatives and drive Value Engineering (VE) activities, ensuring that design optimizations are implemented before design freezes.
- Customer Relationship Management: Serve as the primary technical interface for customer presentations and manage customer change requests and unwritten requirements. Maintain effective communication with external customers and internal teams to ensure alignment.
- Continuous Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement efforts, researching, recommending, and implementing enhancements to both products and engineering processes. Foster innovation within the team and the broader engineering organization.
- Team Development & Mentorship: Provide tactical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams, offering developmental feedback to enhance team performance and foster a culture of growth and improvement.
- Project Execution & Monitoring: Develop effort estimates, engineering timing plans, and monitor product delivery to meet milestones. Ensure smooth transition into manufacturing, supporting engineering development samples and manufacturing tests.
Job Requirements:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in automotive electronics product development, with a focus on serial development.
- At least 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role, with experience leading global teams considered a plus.
- Proven track record of successful automotive product launches.
Technical Skills & Expertise:
- Strong working knowledge of automotive sensing, camera systems, ECUs, or ADAS products/test experience.
- Expertise in product development, testing engineering practices, and troubleshooting within the automotive field.
- Familiarity with Fusa/Cysec standards, HIL/SIL procedures, and automotive network tools (CANalyzer, CANoe, CANape, etc.).
- Proficiency with configuration management systems, PTC/MKS, and engineering problem-solving techniques such as 8D and Fishbone.
- Hands-on experience with model-based development tools (e.g., Matlab/Simulink, dSpace, Labview).
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office and automotive networking tools.
Communication & Language Skills:
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English (additional local language proficiency is a plus).
- Ability to represent technical topics both internally and externally with confidence and clarity.
