Job Summary:
We are looking for a dedicated Quality Control Manager who will be an integral part of our company’s leadership team that ensures the products manufactured at the site are safe, wholesome, and comply with all applicable company, customer, and regulatory requirements. To be successful in this position, you should be a detail-oriented self-starter with good communication skills who can manage the Quality Control Department as well as work with customers and auditors. You will also need good computer skills, an ability to perform root cause analyses, and knowledge of food safety and quality regulations and programs.
Primary Duties:
· Ensure appropriate paperwork and samples are sent to 3rd party laboratories on a daily basis and follow up on delayed or non-conforming results.
· Manage quality control department personnel including, but not limited to, training, scheduling, hiring, and disciplinary actions.
· Improve and manage the quality control technician and facility food safety/food quality training programs.
· Assist with new product startups by ensuring all associated specifications are available to technicians and production personnel, organizing sample collection and shipment, and interfacing with customers as it pertains to quality questions or requirements.
· Manage the allergen control program in conjunction with Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs.
· Manage the environmental monitoring program.
· Assist with customer complaints and non-conforming material investigations through paperwork review, investigations, and implementation of corrective/preventative actions.
· Monitor lab supplies, calibration frequencies, and verification of lab equipment as well as associated documentation.
· Assist with audits (3rd party, customer, and internal) as they pertain to the quality department’s procedures and paperwork.
· Other Quality Control responsibilities as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
The candidate must have the following minimum experience and background to successfully succeed in this position.
· Understand the food safety and quality aspects of the position as prescribed by 21CFR-117, the Food Safety Modernization Act of 2015 (FSMA), FSMA 204, SQF, and other Certification bodies.
· Have at minimum HACCP, Internal Auditor, and PCQI certifications and 5 years of industry experience.
· Ability to self-learn new computer programs/portals.
· Ability to read, understand, and implement new rules and regulations set forth by customers, certifying agencies, and governmental bodies.
· Knowledge and/or experience in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database use are required.
· Excellent interpersonal communication skills in facilitating cooperation amongst departments to achieve customer satisfaction.
· Highly organized with skills to continuously improve and drive improved processes efficiencies.
Physical Demands:
· Necessary to lift up to twenty-five pounds (25lbs) while bending at knees, waist, and twisting upper body
· This position requires the employee to stand or walk on average 50% of workday
