Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Office Receptionist/ Office Coordinator to join our small private practice. In this role, you will provide essential administrative support in a fast-paced medical environment, ensuring that operations run smoothly and efficiently. The ideal candidate will have experience with medical administrative tasks and knowledge of medical terminology as well as clinical background. Currently we are only considering candidates with a prior medical office experience.
Duties
- Perform general administrative tasks such as filing, answering phones, and managing patient records.
- Schedule appointments and manage the calendar for healthcare provider.
- Assist in the preparation of patient charts and documentation, ensuring accuracy of medical terminology and coding (ICD-10).
- Obtaining prior authorization
- Handling the clinical part of an office and preparing specimens for the laboratory.
- Verify the patient's identity (name, date of birth, etc.) to ensure that specimens are matched to the correct patient.
- Double-check information on requisition forms to prevent errors in specimen handling.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Coordinate with other medical facilities as needed for referrals or patient care continuity.
- Support billing processes by verifying insurance information and assisting with claims submissions.
- Ordering and maintaining office supplies
- Being able to fill in when practice administrator is not available
- Work closely with primary provider
Skills
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and administrative procedures.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
- Attention to detail in maintaining accurate records and documentation.
