General Description of Position:
The purpose of this position is to coordinate the development, implementation, scheduling, operation, and evaluation of all residential programming within the Windham County. This residential manager will be responsible for providing comprehensive planning, program oversight, and supporting individuals with disabilities - specific to the individuals’ needs and employees. This position will function according to the policies established by the Company, with the goal of maximizing the potential of individualized support.
Schedule:
Monday - Friday 9am-5pm
On-call
Essential Responsibilities:
Implements programs and monitors an assigned caseload of individuals living in a community setting.
Functions as a member of an interdisciplinary team and takes part in service delivery plan process for individuals.
Provides guidance and support for individuals to develop independent living skills.
Participates in and aids individuals with activities of daily living; assists individuals
in accessing goods, services and support needed for independent living.
Reinforces appropriate individual behavior through modification techniques; responsible for individuals health and safety; observes and reports individual behavior.
Serves as advocate for government subsidies and redetermination hearings.
Transports individuals; acts as liaison to individuals and their families or various community agencies or organizations.
Provides concise and accurate reports and documentation.
Make recommendations on policies or standards.
Administer and track medications with appropriate certification.
Administer first aid in emergency situations.
Schedule and attend appointments with individuals.
Maintain individual’s financial records.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Train, supervise and support the employees which includes Direct Supports Professionals, Interns and Volunteers.
Provided disciplinary action to team members, when necessary.
Responsible for annual staff evaluations/supervisions and other miscellaneous tracking of employee performance.
Responsible for assisting with oversight of daily documentation including online Therap documentation by all staff. (audits)
Monitor and engage employees with all individuals served to follow a person-centered daily schedule.
Oversight of transportation schedules, community experiences, onsite programming, and on-site recreational activities.
Maintain prompt communication concerning daily schedule changes, incident
reports, staffing concerns and general operational issues.
Conduct staff meetings.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrate appropriate time management skills.
Ability to respond appropriately to emergency situations and day-to-day management and supervisory issues.
Respond to emergency situations such as hospital visits and reaching out to guardians, Case Managers and other family contacts followed by submitting necessary incident reports in a timely/appropriate manner.
Committing your time after hours, if necessary, per individual/facility needs.
Minimum Education Required: A bachelor’s degree in human services or related field
and/or five plus years of Human Service experience collaborating with Individuals with
Developmental Disabilities with an administrative background.
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Must have a valid State of Connecticut Driver’s License and be insurable with the agency carrier.
Must be able to meet physical demands of the job. These include, but are not limited to: ability to lift minimum of 50 pounds for assisting participants in personal care needs and/or the purpose of performing daily job duties, ability to twist, bend and reach immediately to address medical and behavioral incidents, ability to enter and exit agency vehicle at numerous stops for a minimum of one hour and the ability to drive agency vehicle for a minimum of 30 minutes without stops.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Excellent written and verbal skills.
Must be able to manage a variety of situations daily.
Additional Requirements:
Must complete the Agency’s Employee Training.
Certification and Training, including but not limited to: CPR, First Aid, PMT, Med. Cert
etc.
Must be able to become certified as an Abuse and Neglect Investigator
through DDS.
