Position Description
This is a supervisory level position responsible for the development of substance abuse and mental health treatment services in a residential setting.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides direct supervision of unit staff including hiring, termination, and completion of employee performance evaluations in accordance with agency personnel policies. May delegate some supervisory responsibilities as appropriate.
- Directs and coordinates the provision of services to persons served ensuring that persons served receive quality services in a timely and professional manner.
- Coordinates the collection of information and data necessary to make accurate and timely reports to licensing and/or funding agencies or to other departments within the agency.
- Provides ongoing clinical supervision of counselors and/or human services technicians including direct observation or their work performance.
- Is responsible for the unit’s compliance with the State of Florida licensing regulations regarding documentation in person served records.
- Supervises the unit’s Quality Assessment/Improvement Program.
- Consults with the agency’s Medical Director and the unit’s attending physician with regard to medical policies and procedures and nursing care practices as necessary.
- Provides minimal training for staff or other employees.
- Performs other reasonable and related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or other administrative staff.

Minimum Training and Experience
- A master’s degree from an accredited college or university, with five (5) years’ experience working with the population and certification as a CAP by the Florida Certification Board; or Florida licensure as an L.C.S.W., L.M.H.C., or L.M.F.T. Certification and licensure requirements may be waived temporarily for individuals with at least two (2) years of full-time experience in a human service setting who are actively pursuing certification or licensure.
- Requires extensive knowledge of all aspects of addictions and mental health treatment including familiarity with various models of treatment; understanding of various therapeutic techniques and approaches; knowledge and understanding of the 12-Step Program; and the ability to identify and utilize the most effective form of treatment with each client.
- Requires a broad knowledge base regarding the causes, symptoms, and progression of substance abuse and mental health disorders.
