Job Overview
The Safety Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the implementation and monitoring of health and safety programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and promote a safe and healthy work environment. This role involves working closely with management and employees to identify and mitigate safety risks, conducting safety training, and ensuring adherence to safety policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the implementation of health and safety programs, policies, and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
- Monitor workplace activities to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations.
- Conduct safety audits and inspections, identify hazards, and work with relevant teams to implement corrective actions.
- Develop and deliver safety training sessions and materials for employees on topics such as proper equipment use, emergency procedures, and accident prevention.
- Maintain records of safety audits, incidents, and training sessions.
- Investigate accidents and incidents, report findings, and implement preventive measures.
- Act as a point of contact for employees regarding health and safety concerns and questions.
- Communicate safety policies and updates effectively to employees.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field preferred.
- Proven experience in a safety-related role.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and other safety standards.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to train employees effectively.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
