What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Accountant position at Confidential?
The Senior Property Accountant will, under minimal supervision, perform accounting functions and duties for a portfolio of owned, managed, or joint-ventured residential properties. The Senior Property Accountant will actively participate in the preparation of the monthly financial statements and management reports for each property. The Senior Property Accountant will establish and maintain a working relationship with the properties and upper management.
Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance or business administration. The position does require ability to read and write English fluently, and the ability to perform basic intermediate to advanced mathematical functions.
Experience: A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a real estate management environment.
Skills: The position requires excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to positively communicate with all levels of the organization and with parties outside the company. Additional requirements include:
- Able to prioritize tasks and projects using time management and organizational skills to achieve overall goals.
- Must be prepared to work with minimal supervision, yet consistently prepared to present results and status of projects.
- Strong written and verbal skills.
- Must be able to analyze data and supporting evidence to provide recommendations.

Essential Job Functions
Accounting:
1. Preparation of work papers supporting the monthly financials, property budgets, annual property audits and tax returns
2. Identify and implement systems or processes to maximize internal efficiencies, shorten reporting deadlines, and maintain integrity and accuracy of financial data
3. Supervise and manage property accountants and other accounting staff
4. Monthly close process, overseeing accounts and ledgers ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP and IRS standards, company policies and regulatory requirements
- Prepare monthly journal entries and accruals
- Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting and variance reporting
- Bank reconciliation’s for operating and security deposits accounts
- Maintaining general ledger accounts, providing monthly account analysis, and reconciling balance sheet accounts
Computer:
1. Ability to utilize Word, Excel and Yardi accounting software.
2. Adhere to daily, weekly and monthly computer reporting requirements.
3. Understand computer function and maintain accurate data files.
