About the Role
We are looking for a dynamic Senior Director of Actuarial Services to lead and enhance our company’s strategy. This key role will be responsible for leveraging actuarial expertise to ensure the soundness and profitability of our health plan offerings. You will monitor claims trends, investigate anomalies, and track member risk scores to conduct in-depth risk adjustment analysis. Additionally, you will assist with various actuarial filings, collaborate with external consultants, and support our annual budgeting process.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in the actuarial field, particularly within healthcare, and have a proven record in managing actuarial operations. Candidates should hold a Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or Finance, and have at least 5 years of experience in the actuarial industry, specifically in healthcare. Experience in Medicaid, commercial, and / or Medicare Advantage business, along with expertise in rate negotiations, design, and compliance with state and federal reporting requirements, is crucial.
Proficiency in Excel and computer programming (SQL / SAS) is necessary, as well as strong analytical skills to assess medical claims trends, reserving, forecasting, and pricing strategies. Excellent communication skills to convey complex analytical findings and mentorship capabilities for entry-level staff are essential. A background in managed care, familiarity with state and federal government programs, and experience with regulators such as CMS are advantageous. Professional designations such as ASA and MAAA will be highly regarded.
