Position Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate, experienced, and highly skilled Social Services Director to provide exceptional care and support for our geriatric population. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing and developing social services programs that promote the emotional, psychological, and social well-being of our elderly residents. As the Social Services Director, you will ensure that all services are aligned with the highest standards of care, ethics, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Management:
- Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of social workers and support staff.
- Ensure the delivery of individualized social services to each resident based on their needs.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop comprehensive care plans for residents.
- Oversee the assessment, counseling, and intervention programs to address the needs of elderly residents.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including state, federal, and accreditation standards.
- Resident Care & Advocacy:
- Serve as the primary advocate for residents, promoting their well-being and rights.
- Conduct psychosocial assessments and work with residents and families to develop care plans.
- Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions, addressing issues such as grief, loss, depression, and adjustment to aging.
- Coordinate services to ensure residents' social and emotional needs are met.
- Family Engagement & Support:
- Act as a liaison between residents, their families, and the care team to ensure effective communication.
- Provide family counseling and support services as needed.
- Educate families on available resources and caregiving strategies.
- Program Development & Evaluation:
- Design and implement social service programs that enhance the quality of life for our geriatric residents.
- Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of social service programs and make recommendations for improvements.
- Ensure that residents’ rights and dignity are maintained at all times.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) preferred.
- LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a social services role, with at least 3 years in a geriatric or long-term care setting.
- Proven leadership and management experience in a healthcare or social services environment.
- Expertise in geriatric care, including working with individuals with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, and other age-related conditions.
- Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with elderly residents, families, and staff.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Knowledge of local community resources, social services, and aging programs.
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism.
- Familiarity with state and federal regulations regarding social services and long-term care.
