Position Overview:
As the Transportation Manager, you will serve as a key leader within our organization, responsible for setting and executing the strategic direction of our transportation services. Your leadership will encompass not only the operational management of our fleet and drivers but also the financial stewardship of the branch. You will be tasked with ensuring that our transportation services are efficient, safe, financially sustainable, and fully staffed to meet operational demands. Additionally, you will play a vital role in growing the location’s revenue by securing and managing outside work, such as charter services, beyond the core client contracts.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and lead the execution of a comprehensive transportation strategy that aligns with the company’s growth objectives and financial goals.
- Oversee the entire transportation operation, including route planning, fleet management, and driver performance, ensuring high standards of safety, efficiency, and customer service.
- Lead the financial management of the transportation division, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting, with a focus on cost control and profitability.
- Manage and oversee the budget for the maintenance shop, ensuring that vehicle upkeep is cost-effective and meets safety and operational standards.
- Represent the company in the community to grow revenue by securing and managing outside work, such as charters, to complement the core services provided to our clients.
- Analyze financial data and operational metrics to identify opportunities for improvement and implement strategies to optimize performance.
- Manage and mentor a team of transportation professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation regulations and company policies, while managing associated risks and costs.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies, to enhance service delivery and negotiate favorable contracts.
- Collaborate with other senior leaders to align transportation services with overall company strategy and to support cross-functional initiatives.
- Represent the transportation division in leadership meetings, providing insights and recommendations based on financial and operational performance.
- Lead the recruitment, training, and retention of drivers, ensuring the location is fully staffed with qualified personnel to meet operational demands.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of five years of leadership experience in the transportation or logistics industry, with a strong focus on strategic planning and financial management.
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business goals into actionable plans.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and lead at all levels of the organization.
- A degree in Finance, Business Administration, Transportation Management, or a related field is preferred, but not required.
- Demonstrated expertise in financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis, with a track record of improving profitability.
- General knowledge of managing maintenance shop budgets, including cost control and resource allocation.
- Proven ability to grow revenue by identifying and securing additional business opportunities, such as charters.
- Experience in recruiting, training, and retaining staff, particularly drivers, to maintain full operational capacity.
- Proficiency in transportation management and financial software, with the ability to leverage technology to drive efficiency.
- Commercial Driver’s License a plus, but not required.
