Job Description
OPERATIONS MANAGER
Reports To: President
Direct Reports: Distribution and Production Leads
Job Summary
Operations - Oversee operations at a combined distribution center and light manufacturing/assembly facility. Ensure that all incoming and outgoing inventory is processed timely and accurately, including customer returns and products returned to vendors. Ensure production/assembly is completed according to work order within precision tolerances. Manage schedules for all warehouse and production associates, including multiple night shifts. Develop and provide training for new employees and for continuous improvement for experienced associates on processes, procedures, safety, and productivity. Performance-manage associates, including interviewing new recruits, contemporaneous disciplinary actions, and annual written performance appraisals. Make recommendations for improvement of warehouse and production operations and manage any approved projects. Complete various management, organization, and planning tasks to maintain high performance of the warehouse’s assembly, storage, and shipment processes.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to handle and understand the receipt and shipment of products of various dimensions, including parcel, LTL and hazmat handling
- Ability to develop junior staff and lead teams to desired outcomes
- Ability to prepare schedules for production/assembly and shipping
- Ability to work efficiently and use proper time management for teams to accomplish work assignments on time
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs properly and teach staff how to lift properly
- Direct experience with Netsuite
· Dependable daily attendance
· Strong organizational skills and team-building skills
· Manage warehouse and production associates, monitoring work and ensuring the safe use of warehouse and production equipment
· Establish warehouse practices and protocols to achieve an efficient warehouse
· Set warehouse and team goals in collaboration with executive management and team leads
· Monitor workplace performance and training initiatives to improve employees’ output
· Keep up to date on the latest federal and state safety regulations and coordinate the safety team
· Communicate with other departments to ensure work orders are completed and products are shipped in a timely manner
· Excellent communication skills with team and executive management
· Knowledge of warehouse equipment maintenance including pallet jacks, floor lifts, and basic tools. Report on any malfunctions, insufficiencies, or necessary repairs to President
· Lead implementation of WMS and/or other advanced inventory management technology
· Assist with any relevant warehouse or assembly projects as requested by President
· Manage cycle counts of inventory as well as full annual inventory counts
- Other duties as assigned within scope of job abilities and skills and for training purposes
Education and Experience
· Must be a high school graduate or have a GED; college degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Inventory Management or Purchasing is a plus
· Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Warehouse Manager or Assistant Manager or Purchasing in a mid to large-sized warehouse operation
· Experience with warehouse equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, stackers and rolling ladders.
· Experience with ERP and WMS systems; NetSuite experience required
· Proficiency in Excel and other productivity solutions
Environmental/ Working Conditions
· Warehouse floor is concrete and can be cold in winter (68 degrees) and hot in summer
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
