The Weighmaster will be responsible for weighing incoming and outgoing metal scrap, ensuring accurate measurement, processing sales transactions, and maintaining records for regulatory compliance. The role requires strong attention to detail, customer service skills, and knowledge of recycling processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Weighing Materials: Accurately weigh incoming and outgoing metal loads using appropriate equipment such as truck scales, platform scales, or other weighing systems.
- Data Entry: Record the weight of materials, including any associated information (e.g., type of metal, customer details) into the system.
- Customer Interaction: Greet customers, assist with unloading scrap metal, and ensure correct material classification.
- Transaction Processing: Process sales or purchase transactions based on weight and current market prices. Provide customers with receipts and proper documentation.
- Inventory Management: Track the flow of scrap metal, ensuring proper inventory levels and documentation for compliance with local and state regulations.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to industry standards, safety protocols, and local, state, and federal regulations regarding metal recycling and weight measurement.
- Customer Service: Resolve customer inquiries, address complaints, and ensure a positive customer experience.
- Maintain Cleanliness: Keep work areas, scales, and surrounding environments clean and safe.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (some positions may require additional certification or experience in the recycling industry).
- Strong mathematical skills for accurate weight calculation and pricing.
- Basic computer skills for entering data into systems.
- Knowledge of metal types and recycling processes is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to operate and maintain scale equipment.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
