Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Yard Driver to join our logistics team. The Yard Driver will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of trailers within the yard, ensuring that all operations run smoothly. This role requires a strong understanding of commercial driving practices and the ability to operate various types of vehicles, including flatbeds, dump trucks, and refrigerated trailers. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, safety-conscious, capable of working in a fast-paced environment, and will be helping with general labor inside the warehouse, as needed.
Schedule
Monday - Friday Saturdays when needed.
7:00am - till finish
Duties
- Safely maneuver and position trailers in designated areas within the yard.
- Operate various types of trucks including flatbeds, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks.
- Conduct routine inspections of vehicles to ensure they are in safe working condition.
- Assist with loading and unloading freight as needed using forklifts or other equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of trailer movements and any issues encountered during operations.
- Collaborate with warehouse staff to ensure timely delivery and pick-up of freight.
- Follow all safety protocols and regulations while operating vehicles within the yard.
Qualifications
- Experience in truck driving, particularly with flatbed, refrigerated trailer, or tanker vehicles is preferred.
- Familiarity with route driving and freight handling processes.
- Ability to operate forklifts safely and efficiently.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety practices.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Previous experience in a yard driver role or similar position is a plus.
