Purpose
The Senior Accountant is primarily responsible for supporting the CFO and Controllers in providing timely, accurate financials to management.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Execute assigned month-end close responsibilities, which may include preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, fluctuation analysis of P&L and/or balance sheet accounts, preparation and analysis of supplemental support schedules and other tasks as necessary for completion and publication of monthly financial reports.
- Accountable for the accuracy of all month-end closing deliverables and the timely completion of such deliverables in accordance with preset deadlines.
- Work collaboratively with other Accounting and company personnel to understand transactions and processes to ensure financial completeness and accuracy, and that controls are in place and functioning as designed.
- Assist with audits when and where appropriate, preparing necessary requested information, answering questions, responding to auditors timely and accurately and supporting organization’s goal of operating in well controlled, GAAP compliant manner.
- Propose and document opportunities for process and control improvements in areas of involvement.
- Protect organization's value by keeping information confidential.
- Ad-hoc Projects - Provide assistance to the Controller, Director and Manager on ad-hoc projects, as necessary
Qualifications & Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting
- 3 – 5 minimum years of experience in accounting or related field, public accounting experience is desired
- Strong with Microsoft Office applications, primarily Excel
- Good understanding of US GAAP, in addition to willingness to research and resolve accounting issues
Preferred Skills
- CPA license, or international equivalent, preferred
- Insurance accounting and industry experience, strongly preferred
- Experience with financial systems (general ledger and/or consolidation tools, preferably Acumatica, Onestream)
- Highly detailed oriented, organized and ability to meet assigned deadlines.
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management and external service providers to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving and results
