SUMMARY: Responsible for providing assistance to the Principal in the administration of the total school program with particular responsibility for administering the student discipline code.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
- Administers a program of student discipline and interacts with students to encourage positive performance.
- Manages all suspension protocols, including alternative instruction.
- Assists scheduling special events during the school day.
- Provides general supervision to students; such as, arrival, dismissal, detention, school trips, advisory, tutoring, extra-curricular activities and/or other school programs as needed.
- Develops and effectively implements support plans for students most in need.
- Maintains effective working relationship with staff, students, parents and community.
- Inspects and observes activities on Confluence property and during school activities, as possible, for correct safety procedures and to correct any unsafe practices and conditions immediately if injury may be imminent and to report all other potential safety hazards to their supervisors.
- Works with teachers and other support personnel to develop and maintain a program of safe conditions and procedures to provide for the welfare of the students, faculty and support personnel and to avoid costly litigation which may result from unsafe conditions and practices.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists in supervising employees in the secondary school when the Head of School is absent from the building. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Confluence’s policies, secondary school practices, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; assists in appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; supervising students throughout school day and at evening activities; implementing instructional programs and providing instructional leadership; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree, minimum 3 years teaching and/or administrative experience preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid Teaching Certificate preferred.
Language Skills: Ability to read and analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals,technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, staff, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interests, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field. Exceptional ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all Confluence requirements and Board of Education policies.
