Summary
Please Note : Primary duties to include assisting manager / supervisor with administrative duties and unit clerk duties for Preop, PACU, and Endoscopy.
Assists patients with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care to all patients, and assists in maintaining a safe and clean environment under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse in charge of the patient and / or unit. May also be utilized as a Bedside Assistant, observing, interacting with, and providing care to patients requiring 1 : 1 supervision.
Assist the physician and nursing staff in a particular department with the management of phone coverage, making appointments, patient flow, prior authorizations, and general paperwork so that quality patient care can be provided as efficiently and pleasantly as possible.

Essential Functions
Perform related assignments and tasks as requested in order to promote positive visitor, family, and staff relations.Provides high quality patient care in a caring and compassionate manor. Reports any observed change in patient condition or behavior promptly to the nurse. Ensures patient care tasks are completed timely.Facilitates patient through-put via clear and timely communication, balancing multiple tasks simultaneously, and remaining calm in a fast-paced environment.Performs or assists with duties as outlined in the CNA Scope of Practice under the direction of the Registered Nurse.Maintains a clean and safe environment for patient and staff according to hospital and unit policies.Demonstrates competence in providing care routines in accordance with established nursing care procedure to ensure patients' comfort and safety.Takes and records vital signs, height, weight, intake and output, and other measurements as delegated by primary RN, in an accurate and timely manner. Reports all variations from normal to the RN in charge of the patient.Obtains finger stick blood glucose as delegated by the RN.Prepares patients for meals, assists in feeding patients as delegated by the RN, distributes fresh water and other nourishment according to patients’ needs as delegated by the RN.Assists patients with elimination needs.Ambulates / Transfers patients using proper body mechanics and patient safety techniques.Assists nurse in treatment procedures as needed.Documents accurately and timely in the patient medical record.Actively participates in quality improvement programs.Adheres to Confluence Health and Central Washington Hospital / Wenatchee Valley Hospital policies and unit standards as applicable.Required to maintain active Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.Handle a multi-line phone system : takes accurate messages and sends for medical records as needed; communicates with physicians and nurses as needed; returns calls as directed by physicians or nursing staff while maintaining a pleasant and welcoming demeanor.Submits and tracks prior authorization requests.Makes appointments, understanding the scheduling workflows of various departments and providers.Schedules special exams, lab, x-ray, and / or surgical procedures as directed.Assists with admit, discharge, and transfer workflows per Unit Standards.Keeps current on the scheduling and staffing situation in the department (when doctors and nurses are in or out) to coordinate scheduling needs.Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Required :
Graduate of an accredited nursing assistant program and :
High School Diploma or GED.Active WA certified CNA license.Eligible to obtain Medical Assistant : Registered certification where applicable (application completed during the hiring process).Must possess basic computer skills related to Windows navigation, mouse usage, keyboarding, email communication and password management.
Desired :
Medical terminology course.Previous experience in a medical or related type of facility or office.Prior computer experience.Ability to type at least wpm.
