Overview
Up to $15,000 in Sign On & Retention Bonuses.

Requires 2 year commitment to Confluence Health
To prepare and screen all pap smears and non-gyn cytology slides and provides evaluation and diagnosis.
Responsibilities
Assists in the preparation and performance of surgical and cytology specimen examination.
Responsible for surgical and cytology pathology specimen accessioning.
In collaboration with the pathologists, describes gross anatomic features, dissects surgical specimens and prepares tissues for microscopic examination. Descriptions will include dictation (utilizing Dragon) of Gross findings and block submission data. Preparation and handling of specimens my include photography or other special techniques.
Assists pathologists with performance of frozen sections by tissue selection, freezing, cutting, staining, or other handling techniques in preparation for slide interpretation.
Screens all pap smears and non-gyn cytology slides.
Prepares or assists with the preparation of cytology slides for examination.
Prepares or oversees preparation of special cytology fixatives.
Assists in supply inventory and ordering for cytology and assists as needed in personnel scheduling for cytology section.
Works directly with anatomic pathology leadership in developing new tests or trouble-shooting established ones.
Utilizes computer entry and data management as it relates to workflow and report generation.
Assists pathologists and clinicians in obtaining optimal cytologic specimens. This may require being at bedside or in procedure room.
Maintains or supervises maintenance of pap files and histology-cytology correlation study set.
Works with anatomic pathology leadership in developing and maintaining quality control procedures.
Assists in preparation of QA manual monthly and initials this review.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Required :
Bachelor’s degree
Completion of 1-year Cytology program.
ASCP licensure for Cytology or equivalent or registry eligible (for new graduates)
Proven required proficiency in the screening of GYN and non-GYN cases.
Desired :
One year prior experience.
Prior experience with computerization and the generation of procedure manuals into NCCLS format.
