Overview
The Hospital Pharmacy Supervisor at Confluence Health Hospital : Central Campus is responsible for supervising the daily operations of the hospital pharmacy. The hospital pharmacy provides pharmaceutical care and services in accordance with established policies, procedures, standards, regulatory bodies and law. The Supervisor ensures performance of ancillary staff and maintains quality assurance, especially as it relates to USP
Hospital Pharmacy Supervisor also ensures all standards with controlled substance management are adhered to. The pharmacy supervisor supports follow up on event reports and system variances as well as plan of corrections with DOH, DNV or other regulatory body. Coordinates with other departments to provide maximum level of services to patients and hospital staff.
Position Reports To : Pharmacy Operations Manager, Central Campus
Responsibilities
Leads the process of developing standard work for operational functions in the department, ensuring they reflect the CH vision, purpose and goals
Ensures regulatory compliance, including training and record keeping for
DOH and DEA standards.
Ensures ancillary staff are compliant with established policies and procedures and are up to date on all required trainings
Oversees daily workload and ensures the department is adequately staffed
Participates in the surveillance of controlled substance utilization throughout the hospital
Evaluates and develops corrective action plans to patient safety events within the department in conjunction with the manager and leadership. Approaches safety events in a manner that is non-punitive and allows staff to learn and improve when errors occur.
Develops education and training for new hires on pharmacy medication use processes
Holds self and others accountable for meeting objectives and commitments and adhering to standards even in the face of unforeseen circumstances
Analyzes problems in a systematic, logical, and timely manner
Identifies and implements effective and innovative solutions, then evaluates outcomes
Actively solicits input from others and listens well
Ensures that people get and understand the information they need to do their jobs and provides feedback that enhances performance
Demonstrates effective writing and speaking skills.
Constructively coaches staff by providing feedback and helpful critique of work, facilitating the development of their problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Provides people with the on-going learning, support, and ensuring they have the time, tools and training needed to do their job well
Encourages cooperation and teamwork within the department
Facilitates the constructive resolution of conflicts and departmental concerns. Addresses concerns in a timely fashion; proactively reduces likelihood of conflict.
Conducts annual performance evaluations for select pharmacy ancillary staff in conjunction with pharmacy managers. Conducts progressive discipline activities when necessary based on ancillary staff performance or conduct
Possesses the functional and technical knowledge and skills to perform at a high level of competence, Actively pursues new developments in functional area; participates in activities that promote professional growth and development
Other duties as assigned
Demonstrate Standards of Behavior and adhere to the Code of Conduct in all aspects of job performance at all times.
Qualifications
Required :
Graduation From an Accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program
Minimum 5 years of Hospital or Relevant Health System Pharmacy Experience
Minimum of 2 advanced certificates through a qualified certification board (one must be sterile compounding certification) (NPTA, PTCB)
Licensed Pharmacy Technician in the State of WA
Associates Degrees in Related Field
Current Confluence Health employees may substitute an Associate’s degree with 5 years of relevant experience
