Job Description
A Pharmacy Technician is a skilled professional who assists pharmacists in the routine, day-to-day functions of pharmacy practice.
The ideal candidate will be able to screen and direct calls, retrieve and distribute mail, admit patients into the computer system, and perform various administrative tasks. They must also be able to enter patient medication orders into the pharmacy computer system, research patient information, and process third-party billing and reconciliation.
Essential Functions:
- Screening and directing calls
- Retrieving and distributing mail
- Admitting patients into the computer system
- Entering patient demographic, medical, and insurance information into the computer system
- Entering patient medication orders into the pharmacy computer system
- Researching patient information for insurance companies
- Processing third-party billing and reconciliation
- Adhering to all policy and procedures related to narcotic documentation, distribution, and record keeping
- Packaging medication and supplies
- Assisting with inventory control and screening stock for outdates
- Maintaining the cleanliness of the department
- Balancing cash drawers and preparing bank deposits
- Attending meetings as required
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED
- Active Washington State Pharmacy Technician License or Pharmacist Intern Registration
- Basic computer skills related to Windows navigation, mouse usage, accurate keyboarding, email communication, and password management
Physical/Sensory Demands:
- Frequent walking and sitting/standing
- Occasional reaching, climbing, pulling/pushing, lifting, carrying, crawling/kneeling, bending/stooping/crouching, twisting/turning, and repetitive movement
