Job Summary:
We are looking for a dynamic and experienced QA Practice Lead with a solid background in Automation Architecture, API Testing, Test Strategy Development, and QA Process Optimization.
In this role, you will take full ownership of enhancing QA best practices, driving automation adoption, and ensuring process standardization across multiple Agile teams. Initially, your focus will be on improving QA methodologies and tools, followed by transitioning into a QA Leadership role-mentoring engineers, guiding offshore teams, and actively participating in hands-on testing.
Key Responsibilities:
Phase 1: QA Practice Enhancements (First 6-9 months)
- Test Automation Optimization Expand the depth, coverage, and transparency of existing automation frameworks.
- Automation Adoption Maximize automation test coverage across the QA function to improve efficiency.
- Process Standardization Enforce best practices in test automation, ensuring consistency across Agile teams.
- API Mocking & Stability Enhance mock API dependencies in lower environments to mitigate instability.
- Tool Implementation & Training Establish standards and drive adoption of QA tools (e.g., QMetry) to provide a unified view of QA progress across multiple projects.
Phase 2: QA Leadership & Hands-on Testing
Leadership & Strategy (25%)
- Define and implement QA best practices, methodologies, and frameworks to enhance testing efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align QA strategy with project goals.
- Manage offshore QA teams, ensuring smooth execution of testing efforts.
- Monitor testing progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
- Drive continuous improvements in testing processes, methodologies, and overall quality assurance.
- Provide technical mentorship and act as a subject matter expert in API testing and automation frameworks.
Hands-on Testing & Execution (75%)
- Develop and execute comprehensive test plans and test suites for APIs and web services.
- Perform functional, regression, integration, and performance testing to ensure high-quality releases.
- Utilize automation frameworks and industry-standard testing tools to develop and execute test scripts.
- Analyze test results, identify defects, and work closely with development teams to resolve issues.
- Stay up to date with the latest trends in software testing, automation, and QA tools to drive innovation.
Key Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 8 years of experience in Software QA, with a strong focus on API and web services testing.
- Proven experience leading QA teams and offshore testing efforts.
- Expertise in API testing methodologies, including RESTful APIs, SOAP, and XML.
- Strong hands-on experience with testing tools and frameworks like:
- JUnit
- TestNG
- Selenium
- Postman
- SoapUI
- Proficiency in automation frameworks and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Java, Groovy).
- Knowledge of SQL and database testing.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and passion for delivering high-quality software.
- Prior experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment is a plus.
