What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ward Clerk - On Call position at CONGREGATIONAL HOMES INC?
Mt. San Antonio Gardens also known as "The Gardens," is a nationally recognized not-for-profit Life Care retirement community of 450 residents in Southern California, located in Pomona/Claremont, California and is seeking an on-call Ward Clerk for in Magnolia Grove, our skilled nursing facility. The ward clerk will provide effective telephone and clerical assistance for our Health Center staff.
Responsibilities:
- Respond in a profession manner to all incoming Health Center calls.
- Assist residents, greet visitors and directs them to the proper department/individual in a courteous and prompt manner.
- Records admissions, discharges, changes and corrections on the daily census record.
- Responsible for monitoring the fire alarm system and the dispatch radio.
- Responsible for checking the Independent Residents check-in system in the absence of Clinic Staff.
- Secures replacement personnel for CNA’s, private duty nurses, license staff, and Ward Clerks when call off’s occur. Assist Villa scheduler with replacement. Secures replacement personnel in the Health Center for RNA’s, Can’s, licensed staff and Ward Clerks when call off’s occur.
- Enters admission data into the computer system for new admissions with minimal errors.
- Page call lights until answered.
- Checks face sheets periodically and update information that is written in.
- Update face sheets as requested.
- Keep resident charts clean and neat (i.e. reinforce loose pages, etc.)
- Checks “Form Cart” at least once a month to ensure supply of forms are available and makes copies as needed or requested. (PM Clerks only)
- Ensures a supply of “filled” charts are available for new admits (PM Clerks only). Ensures supply closet has proper supplies (cartridges, forms, etc.)
- Orient new SNF staff to phones, call system, fire alarm system, eye wash area and other pertinent systems at the main nursing station.
- Provide assistance for visitors, phone calls and deliveries when reception area (front desk) is closed.
- Distribute payroll checks to Health Center and Clinic staff.
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Practices good safety habits.
- Assist nursing with scheduling companions for resident appointments.
