What are the responsibilities and job description for the Congressional Progressive Caucus Policy Advisor position at Congressional Progressive Caucus?
The Congressional Progressive Caucus seeks an experienced and enthusiastic Policy Advisor based in Washington, D.C., to support and advance CPC Members’ legislative agendas.
The ideal candidate will have legislative experience on Capitol Hill and strong relationships with organizations and individuals within the progressive movement. Strong writing, analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills are essential. The applicant must also demonstrate an ability to think strategically, advance legislation, and work in close coordination with team members in an extremely fast-paced environment. A sense of humor is greatly appreciated.
Daily responsibilities include, but are not limited to, working with the Policy Director to carry out the CPC’s legislative goals; advising senior staff and members on priority issues, including conducting research, drafting policy memos, tracking committee business and floor activity, contributing to vote recommendations, liaising with advocacy organizations and think tanks, and co-developing letters, bills, amendments and other legislative products.
Applicants must be detail-oriented, have excellent writing skills and be team players who can handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, ideally with passion and experience working for progressive causes. At least two years of Hill experience as a legislative staffer are strongly preferred.
Salary range is $60-80,000 - commensurate with skills and experience.
