The Mobile Mechanic is responsible for performing maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a variety of vehicles and equipment in the field. This role requires a high degree of technical expertise and the ability to work independently. The Mobile Mechanic will travel to job sites to address mechanical issues, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum efficiency for fleet operations.
Job Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to) :
Travels between CNS facilities and projects to perform the following duties :Diagnoses and repairs various construction equipment and on-highway utility trucks and trailers using basic and specialty test equipment either mechanical or electronicTroubleshoots and replaces various components such as valves, hoses, fittings, tanks, pumps etc. in hydraulic systemsTroubleshoots and repairs complex wiring for systems such as utility booms, chassis, and engine wiring. Must be able to read and understand wiring schematicsPerforms basic fabrication and welding using MIG, ARC, OXY Acetylene, Torch, grinders, and other fabricating toolsPerforms preventative maintenance and BIT / DOT inspections including wet and dry PM services and repairs that need to be addressed during BIT inspection findingsRaises trucks, trailers or other equipment using hydraulic or air assisted jacks or hoists in a safe practiceReplaces worn or defective brake components including tire replacementDiagnoses and repairs air conditioning systems. (CNS provides A / C machine and test equipment)Completes and submits all paperwork in an accurate and timely fashionPerforms other duties as assigned.Required Skills & Qualifications :
High school or equivalent diploma / GED and minimum 5 years' experience in this specific role or in fields relating to medium / heavy duty truck repair, construction equipment repair, utility equipment repair or similar.Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English, Bi-lingual Spanish is a plus.Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; CDL preferred.Candidate must be able to work independently, have good critical thinking / problem solving skills, follow directions, and be self-motivating.Candidate must be a good representative of our company and perform their duties in an honest, ethical, and diligent manner.Available / willing to work overtime as needed. Hours to be flexible and may include 1 weekend workday, to be discussed further.Knowledge and experience with Ford Power Stroke and GM Duramax diesel enginesMust have basic computer skills and be organized.Must furnish own tools and work boots. (Specialized tools such as computer scanners provided by CNS)Conditions may vary. Most work will be done in the primary location listed above, but there can also be times when an emergency breakdown requires a field repair we must respond to- as is, where is. CNS provides all safety equipment such as eye, ear, face, safety vests and related protection.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under pressureGood attention to detail Follow written and verbal instructionsProfessional demeanor and customer service skillsBasic knowledge of automotive / diesel systems and 1-year minimum experience in a shop environmentPosition includes basic troubleshooting and repair of electrical systems on trailers and trucks such as lights etc.Applicant must be able to furnish his own personal hand tools, more specialized equipment provided by the company.Desired Skills & Qualifications :
Associates or Trade school degree in the field of automotive or diesel repairASE certifications / Air Conditioning 609 certificationWelding certificationsQualified to perform BIT / DOT inspectionsBrake Certifications for air systemsA desire to be future minded and open to training and career growthPosition includes operating floor jacks, changing tires, breaking down tires off steel rim assemblies and repairing flat tires.Perform lube, oil, and filter changes on a variety of different equipmentPerform safety inspections on equipmentPhysical Demands and Work Environment :
