Conifer Insurance Services, LLC is a specialty program administrator that provides agents and brokers with an innovative mix of insurance products for niche and underserved industry groups.
We are seeking to hire an experienced and detail-oriented Litigation Insurance Defense Paralegal to support our legal team in defending clients against insurance claims. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in litigation, particularly in insurance defense, and will be adept at managing case files, conducting legal research, and assisting attorneys in all phases of litigation.
The primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- E-file for state and federal courts.
- Calendaring internal and court deadlines.
- Serve, and draft legal documents.
- Timekeeping for attorneys.
- Trial Preparation
Case Management:
- Assist attorneys in all phases of litigation, from case inception through trial and appeal.
- Organize and maintain case files, including managing deadlines, court dates, and documentation.
Legal Research and Writing:
- Conduct legal research and analysis on various issues related to insurance defense cases.
- Draft legal documents such as pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and responses.
- Prepare and review case summaries, discovery charts, and legal memoranda.
Discovery Process:
- Prepare and file discovery requests and responses, including interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admissions.
- Review and summarize discovery materials and manage document production.
- Coordinate with experts and witnesses for depositions and other discovery-related activities.
Court Filings and Documentation:
- Prepare and file legal documents with the court, ensuring compliance with court rules and deadlines.
- Assist in drafting and filing briefs, motions, and other legal pleadings.
- Track case deadlines and ensure timely filing of all required documents.
Client and Witness Communication:
- Communicate with clients, witnesses, and experts to gather information and provide updates.
- Schedule and coordinate meetings, depositions, and court appearances.
Trial Preparation:
- Assist attorneys in trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, preparing witness lists, and drafting trial briefs.
- Coordinate logistics for trial, including arranging for court reporters and managing trial binders.
Administrative Support:
- Manage and organize case files, including electronic and physical documentation.
- Perform routine administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and handling correspondence.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Prior paralegal experience
Work/Travel Environment:
- Travel not required for this role
Required Certifications:
- Paralegal certificate
