BRANCH MANAGER
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Branch Manager will be responsible for the overall operation of their assigned branch. We are looking for a leader with a positive attitude to create a culture of teamwork, safety, cleanliness, punctuality, professionalism, and organization while maximizing efficiency and profit. We would like this person to be progressive, adaptable, and willing to try new ways of doing things. It will also be important for this person to keep an open dialogue with the management team at the corporate office in Atlanta, GA.

COMPANY DESCRIPTION:
Conklin Metal Industries is a distributor of all types of sheet metal, HVAC, and duct fabrication supplies. Our founding dates to 1874 and is now in its fourth generation as a family owned and operated business. We service the entire southeastern U.S. out of fifteen (15) warehouses. Our customers include sheet metal contractors, mechanical contractors, duct fabricators, residential/multi-family new construction contractors, and HVAC contractors who specialize in service and replacements. We are a one stop shop for every component used in the construction and installation of a commercial or residential HVAC Duct system. This includes the sheet metal for the rectangular or spiral/round duct, plus all the materials to connect, fasten, insulate, attenuate sound, control vibration, reinforce, direct air flow, provide access, and ultimately hang and seal. We also stock the widest array of sheet metal forming machinery in the southeast.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and manage all personnel within the branch
- Provide effective leadership to include staff recognition, staffing efficiency, effective peer interaction, timely employee reviews, conflict resolution and leading by example
- Proactively train and develop staff to ensure a safe and efficient work environment
- Work to ensure branch reaches all assigned goals
- Staff selection, training, development, coaching, and counseling employees
- Ensure the branch team develops and maintains strong technical, soft and leadership skills; strong cohesion; high morale; and strong performance levels
- Analyze statistics and reports to discover, report and leverage business performance and trends
- Monitor and maintain sales productivity. This will be tracked on a weekly and monthly basis by using Phocas and P21
- Know and understand how our system pricing works and use it to maximize margins while remaining competitive in the marketplace
- Work with our pricing team to ensure maximum profit
- Make safety a priority by ensuring all staff is adhering to all safety policies outlined within Conklin’s safety portal and safety training is up to date
- Proactively identify, analyze, and correct operational problems
- Accurately forecast business activity and maintain branch operating budget
- Communicate anticipated changes in sales volumes with purchasing department
- Collaborate with business development on local sales effort; participate in relevant local trade associations
- Ensure drivers complete pre-trip/post trip inspections and stay within HOS rules
- Keep showroom clean and shelves stocked
- Oversee warehouse cleanliness and work-flow organization
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in business-related discipline or equivalent in experience
- 5 years’ experience working in industrial distribution and/or HVAC
- Experience with ERP systems, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent attention to detail
- Experience with Epicor P21 or Phocas is a plus
- 3 years of management and/or supervisory experience
- Experience managing a PNL for Top line and bottom-line growth
- Excellent communication skills
- Able to work in a supportive team environment
- Strong Microsoft Office skills required.
- Travel within local branch area with some occasional travel outside of that area
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resource planning, leadership development and coordination of people and resources
- Excellent customer service skills
- Demonstrated ability to resolve complaints & conflict and negotiate "win - win" solutions.
- Ability to supervise and direct the work of others
- Proficient computer skills in MS Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Intermediate math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks and decisions in a high-pressure environment.
