What are the responsibilities and job description for the R&D Engineer I position at CONMED Corporation?
The purpose of the R&D Engineer I is to perform engineering duties in designing and developing medical devices. The individual must be able to prepare reports and protocols and perform routine engineering activities under supervision. The engineer will collaborate with cross functional teams to develop and support advanced surgical devices and powered instruments which are used in orthopedic and arthroscopic surgery products. The engineer will have immediate opportunities to contribute in a fast-paced, hands-on and game-changing environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create models and drawings in SolidWorks to meet design specifications.
- Analyze data and perform root-cause investigations.
- Conduct product and feature testing in a lab environment.
- Conduct each assignment based on broad team input and customer needs.
- Communicate effectively with team members and customers.
- Carry out engineering assignments that are broad in nature and require ingenuity and problem solving skills.
- Evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques and procedures using judgment to solve difficult technical challenges.
- Prepare reports and protocols and perform routine engineering related actions.
- Facilitate changes within a design control system.
- Translate, develop, and document engineering specifications based on voice of the customer input.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors in Mechanical or Biomedical engineering
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with prototyping and 3D modeling.
- Experience with troubleshooting or building mechanical devices
- Knowledge in Design principles, engineering concepts
- Proficiency in Computer Aided Design and office software applications, SolidWorks or related
