Job Description: Program Manager

Position Title: Program Manager

Location: Tacoma, WA

Reports To: Executive Director

Job Summary:

The Program Manager oversees daily operations of a residential facility for children with developmental disabilities, managing staff, implementing care programs, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee facility operations and maintenance.
  • Develop and enforce policies and procedures.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise staff; manage schedules and professional development.
  • Create and implement individualized care plans; coordinate educational, recreational, and therapeutic activities.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations; prepare for audits and accreditation.
  • Communicate with families and engage with community organizations.
  • Assist in budget preparation and monitor expenses; seek grants and funding opportunities.
  • Lead crisis management efforts, including emergency response plans.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Special Education, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years in residential care, with at least 1 year working with children with developmental disabilities.
  • Skills: Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and budget management skills.

Certifications and Requirements:

  • Graduation certificate for your degree.
  • Current First Aid/CPR (hands-on component required).
  • Bloodborne Pathogen and Food Handlers certificates.
  • Negative TB test (within the last year).
  • Behavioral and Crisis Management training (Right Response or PROACT preferred).
  • Three (3) references with phone and email contacts.

Personal Attributes:

  • Compassionate, organized, adaptable, and detail-oriented.

Working Conditions:

  • Residential facility; may require evening, weekend, and on-call hours.
