Job Summary: As a CDS Field Technician, you will be responsible for the successful installation of various connected vehicle technology products across multiple CDS segments, including customers, agents, and brand partners. As the face of the product installation team, you will be working directly with the Manager of Field Operations to strategically preload a dealership’s vehicle inventory. You will work across all CDS brands, installing one or more of our products at one or more dealerships within the same week.

Willingness to travel: 75% Nationwide travel required. When not traveling, performing duties as noted below.

Responsibilities:
As the CDS Field Technician, you will install CDS technology on assigned pool of vehicles (new and used), train the dealership technicians for product adoption and usage. Manage onsite expectations using defined installation preloading processes and ensure successful implementation of products and programs. In addition, you will work directly with Product Deployment Specialists, Regional Performance Managers, Channel Managers, Agents, and brand partners to orchestrate a smooth preload.
This includes:
  • Installation of CDS technology (40-50 vehicles per day)
  • Demonstrate solid understanding of the product, system, OEM standards, requirements, and tools needed.
  • Safely remove panels to gain access to vehicle wiring, diagnostic port, and to conceal CDS hardware.
  • Train dealer technicians in group setting or one on one.
  • When not traveling, join workshops, training, fulfill job reports, and documentation.
  • Document when encountering OEM changes in new vehicles.
  • Maintain tools provided.
  • Troubleshoot and report anomalies, obstacles, or issues found to manager before proceeding with installation.
  • Vehicle/product testing and documentation.
  • Safely removing existing systems if necessary.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Required to pass a complete background including criminal and driving.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • 1-3 years of professional 12V installation experience is preferred.
  • Experience in 12volt, GPS, and telecommunication smart device fields is preferred.
  • 12V Troubleshooting knowledge.
  • MECP (Mobile Electronics Certified Professional) certification preferred but not required with relevant work experience.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
  • High school or vocational school graduate
  • Minimum of 1 year experience or a relevant field is preferred
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be willing to travel 75% a month, and able to sit for extended periods while traveling
  • Must be able to work outdoors in extreme heat and intense humidity during the summer months, and extreme cold during the winter months, enduring harsh weather conditions for extended periods in a fast-paced environment.
  • Requires physical agility and flexibility to maneuver under a vehicle dashboard, including working upside down on your back, for the installation and training of GPS devices, as well as standing for long durations.
  • This job is physically demanding and very fast-paced, requiring the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Responsibilities include carrying a tool bag weighing up to 50 pounds, heavy pulling and pushing to remove vehicle dashboards, and completing a preassigned number of installations within a short period of time at dealership launches.
  • Involves repetitive motion such as squatting, standing, sitting, walking, crouching, stooping, and working in the confined spaces of vehicles.
  • Requires lifting up to 50 pounds, with extensive use of hands, eyes, ears, arms, and voice.
