Position Summary:
This role is responsible for the 24-hour planning, development, oversight, and coordination of clinical functions within the assigned unit. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or a related field; a Master’s in Business or Healthcare is preferred.
Certification: AMT or ASCP.
At least two years of recent acute care clinical experience relevant to the area of responsibility is preferred.
Demonstrated leadership skills.
Strong knowledge of clinical and management processes.
Ability to apply principles to systems and develop solutions.
Must serve as a clinical role model.
Capability to educate and communicate current industry trends to a diverse staff.
Performs related duties as required.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical & Administrative Duties:
Ensures services align with the physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs of the patient population.
Maintains core competencies and adheres to organizational policies (e.g., dress code, identification, smoking regulations).
Develops and manages systems for accurate and timely revenue recording.
Oversees special projects or studies and keeps the Pathologist informed of progress.
Fosters a motivating work environment to enhance staff performance and efficiency.
Identifies future needs and implements practical solutions.
Conducts regular rounds across all assigned areas and shifts to strengthen staff relationships and assess patient care.
Works with the Pathologist and CEO to evaluate staff performance and complete timely assessments.
Provides staff orientation and monitors progress, ensuring appropriate training schedules.
Balances responsibilities across teaching, management, professional development, and clinical duties.
Regularly assesses staffing levels to meet patient care demands.
Adapts to hospital function and procedural changes.
Delegates responsibilities effectively, ensuring proper authority is assigned.
Guides staff in planning, organizing, leading, and managing their respective areas.
Utilizes analytical skills to assess patterns, develop strategies, and evaluate outcomes.
Understands departmental interdependencies within the laboratory.
Ensures compliance with quality improvement standards and organizational objectives.
Maintains fair, consistent, and objective management and clinical practices.
Operates independently with minimal supervision.
Communication & Interpersonal Skills:
Demonstrates effective communication skills for interacting with diverse age groups and cultures.
Acts as a liaison between the laboratory and healthcare providers.
Appropriately answers and directs phone calls.
Upholds the hospital’s mission, philosophy, and confidentiality policies.
