Position Summary:
The Medical Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the clinical team in providing high-quality patient care. This position requires a strong work ethic, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a commitment to patient confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, including taking vital signs, obtaining medical histories, and assisting with minor procedures (e.g., injections, phlebotomy).
- Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare exam rooms for patient visits.
- Assist physicians during examinations and procedures as directed.
- Administer medications as directed by a physician or nurse practitioner.
- Collect and prepare laboratory specimens.
- Maintain accurate and complete patient records in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Schedule and coordinate patient appointments.
- Answer patient phone calls and respond to inquiries.
- Provide patient education and support as directed.
- Assist with patient referrals and insurance authorizations.
Clinic Operations:
- Maintain a clean and organized clinic environment.
- Stock exam rooms and ensure adequate supplies are available.
- Assist with inventory management.
- Participate in team meetings and staff training.
- Adhere to all HIPAA and OSHA regulations.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of a Medical Assistant program from an accredited institution preferred.
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting preferred, with experience in addiction medicine or women's health a plus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
