Essential FunctionsThe Grant Writer Consultant works directly with the Executive Director and the Grants Team to assist with planning and implementing Connectedly’s development strategy and grant portfolio. S / he is responsible for foundation grantsmanship and reporting requirements. S / he emphasizes developing larger-scale grants in scope, finding potential new opportunities, and raising significant funds to support the organization’s programs. From time to time, special projects arise in which the Grant Writer Consultant participates and offers varied areas of expertise. These are developed in collaboration with the Executive Director, Grants Team, and Direct Service Team and directly enhance the agency’s mission.QualificationsDemonstrated skills and experience in grantsmanship and strategic developmentKnowledge of the aging community and social service network in PhiladelphiaKnowledge of gerontology, especially community-based care and in home servicesKnowledge of local, regional, and national fundersMaster's degree in related field (Social Work, Public Health, etc.) with four years of post-graduate experience preferredPrimary ResponsibilitiesWorks directly with the Executive Director and Connectedly’s Grants Team to identify new sources of funding opportunities for Connectedly.Raises funding to support Connectedly’s programs and operations of approximately $1M / year.Develops grant proposals, meeting RFP specifications and deadlines.Makes recommendations for new service, policy and other initiatives, and identifies appropriate funding streams.Organizes and distributes when appropriate larger scale proposals to be used as boiler plates to the Grants Team.Assists in tracking reporting and proposal schedule with Grants Team.Writes comprehensive mid-year and final reports for large scale funders and special projectsKeeps the agency current on demographic and legislative information affecting Connectedly’s client population on city, state and national levels.
