What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recovery Coach - DOC Program position at Connecticut Community for Addiction Recovery (CCAR)?
CCAR is looking to hire a full time Recovery Coach for the DOC Program to work with DOC Addiction Services staff in providing recovery coaching services within identified Department of Correction facilities, serving as a motivator, recovery resource broker, and liaison.
The ideal person will be enthusiastic, extremely well organized and passionate in working closely with people in recovery. Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide recovery coaching to incarcerated individuals that are close to discharge with a focus on those individuals receiving Medication
Assisted Treatment.
• Work closely with Addiction Services/Medical personnel and staff.
• Facilitate timely referrals and placements to ongoing treatment/recovery support providers.
• Follow up with individuals post discharge to continue recovery planning.
• Connect patients to a larger community of care.
• Educate and assist family members as requested.
• Serve as a recovery ambassador.
• Promote the message and services of CCAR.
• Participate in ongoing recovery coach training, education and performance support.
• Report writing, record keeping as required by CCAR and/or DOC.
• Travel required.
• Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
• Experience with the addiction recovery process.
• Understanding of medication-assisted treatment and practices.
• Familiarity with local support services, resources and recovery community.
• Capability of building an effective coach-recoveree relationship.
• Demonstrated skill in actively listening, asking good questions, awareness of self and treating people as resources.
• Understanding of and ability to maintain appropriate boundaries.
• Ability to work within a Correctional Facility setting.
• Availability to work a flexible schedule.
• Cross-cultural skills, and experience with culturally diverse populations.
• Bilingual abilities are a plus.
• A valid driver’s license, insurance and reliable vehicle required.
• Strong customer service ethic.
• Certificate of completion of the CCAR Recovery Coach Academy© preferred.
• Certificate of completion of Ethical Considerations for Recovery Coaches© preferred.
• Certificate of completion of Spirituality for Recovery Coaches© preferred.
• Certificate of completion of Recovery Coaching in Professional Settings© preferred.
• Recovery Coach Professional (RCP) designation or in process to earn designation.
