ABOUT THE MULTIFAMILY DEPARTMENT:
The Multifamily department of CHFA is responsible for all tasks involved in providing financing for multifamily developments and monitoring those developments once they are placed in service. Multifamily is heavily involved in community engagement and performs underwriting, construction risk mitigation, program administration and asset management functions for these developments.
ABOUT THE POSITION:
CHFA is offering this internship within our Multifamily department to provide qualified candidates opportunities to:
- Experience our organization and contribute to our mission.
- Collaborate with multiple staff whose responsibilities vary.
- Perform meaningful tasks to support each unit within Multifamily.
- Connect with a CHFA staff member on a weekly basis.
- Develop an understanding of important programs such as the LIHTC and HTCC tax credit programs.
- Learn what it means to underwrite a loan, mitigate risk during construction, and monitor a development once it is placed in service.
- Understand the level of collaboration it takes to make a deal successful.
- Participate in study halls which discuss important topics in affordable housing.
- Interact with leaders both within and outside Multifamily; and
- Get a glimpse into career opportunities within the affordable housing sector.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Undergraduate students, graduate students, or recent graduates. In areas of study of real estate, urban planning, public policy, economics, finance, accounting, statistics, data analytics, computer science, law, and architecture.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Exhibits a strong interest in affordable housing, fair housing, and homelessness issues.
- Displays strong organizational skills.
- Has ability to multitask; and
- Demonstrates openness to working with multiple teams throughout the department.
