ABOUT THE POSITION:
The Senior Project Manager, Operations and Delivery is responsible for effectively managing daily operations by ensuring smooth collaboration between project management, software development and operations functions within the IT department. The position will play a critical role in effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams, including IT, business units, and senior management, to understand and translate business needs into technical solutions. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in leading cross-functional teams, process improvement, project management, continuous improvement, reporting, or related fields.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Receives direction from the Chief Information Officer, his/her designee, or a position of a higher grade.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
Supervises the work of relevant Information Technology staff.
POSITION SUMMARY:
- Manage and lead the planning, execution, and delivery of multiple and concurrent projects from initiation to closure, adhering to project management disciplines and methodologies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and subject matter experts to define project scope, objectives, deliverables, and resource requirements.
- Develop project artifacts, including project plans, implementation plan with milestones, status reports, agendas, and meeting minutes, while monitoring progress and proactively addressing any issues or risks that may arise.
- Create and manage project and program dashboard, timelines, documents and supporting systems/tools according to established industry best practices.
- Manage the delivery of ongoing support services for existing products and services, maintaining a focus on continuous quality improvement.
- Communicate project status, updates, and key milestones to stakeholders, including senior management, and project teams.
- Manage project related operations within the IT department by establishing priorities, developing standards, setting deadlines, managing project related activities including timelines, system enhancements, user acceptance testing and release management.
- Measure, monitor and report work progress to ensure high-quality deliverable are produced on-time, within budget, and meet or exceed commitments and expectations.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance service delivery efficiency, effectiveness, and quality assurance practices.
- Develop and implement process improvement strategies that increase efficiency, reduce costs, ensure user satisfaction, operational efficiency, and continued growth for the IT department.
- Implement best practices in Agile methodologies, fostering a culture of continuous integration, delivery, and improvement.
- Provide operational support for reporting, integration and conversion projects related to system implementations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
BS/BA in Computer Science or related field with at least 10 years of professional experience preferred, preferably within an IT environment, which includes a minimum of five years in service delivery management, project management, quality assurance, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in lieu of education will be considered.
Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification is required.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and managing projects across multiple departments or business units.
- Experience with successfully leading change, developing high functioning, engaged, customer oriented, collaborative and motivated teams.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication and documentation skills, comfortable speaking and presenting to staff, management and a variety of stakeholders.
- Experience working with Microsoft Office applications and virtual meeting tools.
- Comfortable working closely with a diverse range of non-technical end users during design and deployment phases.
