Primary Position Objectives

Works under direction of skilled worker learning the Tool & Die trade according to written contractual agreement with the State Department of Labor Apprenticeship Division.

Position Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Description of Duties

Performs basic Tool & Die functions as assigned.
Performs general operation & maintenance of machines such as lubrication and proper use of coolants according to set standards as specified by the apprenticeship program guidelines.
Must attend related schooling pertaining to the trade, which includes, blueprint reading, shop sketching, metallurgy, elementary physics, etc.
Maintains required records.

Lean Initiatives

Observes company processes and makes recommendations for improvement.

Participates in continuous improvement projects

Other

Maintains adherence to company policies, environmental and safety standards, and good housekeeping standards.

May be required to assist or otherwise instruct other personnel .

Performs other duties as may be required.

Attendance is an essential function of the job.

Qualifications

Education / Experience

High School, Trade School graduate or demonstrated equivalent skills.

Must have basic math knowledge.

Computer literate

Capable of using basic measuring equipment

Ability to read simple blueprints preferred.

Physical Requirements

Visual ability (corrected) to read directions and prints and to inspect parts closely to ensure that they meet specifications.

Manual dexterity sufficient to operate machinery for precision work.

Physical ability to do work requiring frequent stooping and bending.
