Job Description
Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator, General is responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of facilities that pertain to wastewater treatment plants, wastewater lift stations and appurtenant wastewater and collection components.
High School diploma or equivalent required
Ability to work towards State of Connecticut Wastewater Treatment License II within a reasonable timeframe (with company support and training)
Must use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Must be able to utilize General Office Software
Mechanical aptitude with pumps, generators, and hydraulics preferred
Compliance with state and federal regulations required
Must be able to work independently
Must have ability to work standby rotation

Job Description
Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator, General is responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of facilities that pertain to wastewater treatment plants, wastewater lift stations and appurtenant wastewater and collection components.
- Notifies management of any issues and makes recommendations for improvement.
- Makes process adjustments as necessary to maintain compliance with discharge quality parameters as directed or assisted by other more experienced operators or Lead.
- Provides mechanical maintenance and repair services as needed.
- Assists with Field Service activities
- Acts as an operator of wastewater treatment plants, and pumping facilities. Responsible for all related maintenance of the facilities, including, but not limited to pumps, chemical feeders, control valves, recorders, electrical systems, and emergency equipment.
- Collects wastewater samples and records data. Provides water quality analyses for wastewater facilities under the direction of more experienced operators or Lead.
- Operates and tests all emergency generators.
- Occasional performs various other Field Service tasks within the region, including, but not limited to collections system piping and service repairs, and CBYD location mark-outs.
- Participates in on-call schedule and is responsible for responding to routine operations as requested and required once trained.
- The position is responsible for learning, following and ensuring compliance with all safety rules. This includes rules and regulations in the Company Safety Manual, OSHA regulations and other state, federal, or governing body's rules and regulations.
- Performs other duties or special projects as required or as assigned.
