School Summary

Georgia Connections Academy is a tuition-free, full-time virtual school for students in grades K-12 throughout Georgia.  The school is authorized by the Georgia Charter Schools Commission and governed by an independent Board of Directors, with a mission to maximize academic achievement for students who are seeking other academic options. The school is operated by Georgia Connections Academy, a nonprofit corporation, through a contract with Connections Academy of Georgia, LLC, to provide its educational program and other services. Connections Academy, a division of Connections Education, is accredited by AdvancED, and GACA is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges & Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement.

Position Summary and Responsibilities

Working from our office in Duluth, Georgia, the School Psychologist supports students' academic, emotional, and social success by providing a range of psychological services. This role involves collaboration with educators, parents, and other professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments that enhance student learning and well-being. The School Psychologist will be an expert in psycho-educational assessments as well as in principles of learning and behavior, special education laws and regulations, and crisis intervention behavior strategies in the school setting.

The School Psychologist will be responsible for the successful completion of the following tasks:

• Conduct psycho-educational assessments to evaluate students' cognitive, academic, emotional, social, and adaptive needs virtually and in person
• Prepare comprehensive evaluation reports
• Attend Eligibility and IEP meetings to interpret evaluation results to the IEP team
• Identify learning disabilities, emotional disturbances, and other educational challenges
• Develop and implement individual or group intervention programs for students
• Provide counseling and mental health support to students facing emotional or behavioral difficulties, including but not limited to behavioral supports, individual and group counseling, and social skills training
• Collaborate with teachers to implement classroom-based interventions and behavior management strategies
• Work with teachers, administrators, and parents to address academic and behavioral concerns
• Participate in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Provide professional development and training for staff on topics like mental health, behavior management, and crisis intervention
• Maintain accurate and confidential records in compliance with federal, state, and district regulations
• Ensure all evaluations, plans, and reports meet legal and ethical standards
• Stay current with research and best practices in school psychology
• Serves as a 12 month employee
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Valid Georgia Psychology License' with 'GAPSC School Psychology [FLD711] certificate required
• Valid Georgia Psychology License
• Ability to work with diverse populations and manage sensitive situations effectively
• Strong technology skills (especially with Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets products)
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Customer focused approach
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Experience in writing policies and procedures
• Strong knowledge of IDEA and Georgia Rules and Regulations in regard to Special Education
• High degree of flexibility
• Team player with demonstrated leadership skills
• Demonstrated ability to work well in fast-paced environment
• Willingness to travel to evaluate students across GA and on occasion for marketing and state testing events (may require occasional overnight travel)
