ROLE PURPOSE
The Senior Manager of Finance – FP&A is responsible for overseeing financial reporting, analysis, and budgeting processes, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and alignment with organizational goals. Additionally, the position manages cash flow, forecasting and supports the Director while leading the FP&A team to drive continuous improvement in financial operations and performance.
REPORTING AND WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
Reports and is accountable to the Director of Finance or their designate
Participates as a contributor to the Common Services and Program Teams
Liaises with the staff of Connective as necessary
Liaises with staff and volunteers of community, funders, and government agencies as required
LOCATION
Vancouver, BC.
STATUS AND CLASSIFICATION
Exempt.
WORK HOURS
40 hours per week; Monday to Friday, 0830 – 1630.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Drafts financial statements and reporting for internal review
Prepares accurate financial statements, reports, and summaries for internal stakeholders, ensuring compliance with company policies and standards. Assists in analyzing financial performance
Assists in analyzing financial performance
Helps evaluate the company’s financial health by analyzing key financial data, identifying trends, and providing insight to support decision making by participating in regular forecasting and other activities.
Supports year-end and interim audit procedures
Works closely with the Director of Finance during the year-end audit process by providing necessary documentation and ensuring all financial records are accurate and complete.
Aids in preparing funding applications
Assists in compiling financial data and drafting documents for funding applications, ensuring all required information is included and aligned with funding guidelines.
Drives continuous improvement of financial reporting processes
Identifies opportunities to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of financial reporting, implements streamlined processes, and develops interactive dashboards to provide real-time financial insights for decision-makers.
Leads the annual operating and capital budgeting process
Oversees the planning, development, and execution of the annual operating and capital budgets, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and financial targets, and facilitating collaboration across departments and programs.
Manages cash flow and liquidity
Monitors daily cash position, ensure adequate liquidity to meet operational needs, and works with Director to implement effective cash management strategies to optimize working capital.
Fulfills the responsibilities of the Director during their absence, when assigned
Steps in as the acting Director, when assigned, when the Director is away, taking on leadership duties, managing the team, and ensuring operations run smoothly.
Oversees the FP&A (Financial Planning & Analysis) Team
Leads and supervises the FP&A team, ensuring efficient performance in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis, while providing guidance and support to team members.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Primarily remote work, with occasional in-person attendance in Vancouver or Fraser Valley when necessary
Ability to work independently while remaining an integral member of the finance and common services teams
Adherence to Connective policies and procedures
Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed based on department needs and schedules
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
University degree or diploma in accounting
Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation, Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, Master of Business Administration (MBA) or combination of experience and education
5 years of experience in full cycle accounting
1 year of management experience
Knowledge of accounting standards for not-for-profit organizations, internal controls, and financial reporting
Familiarity with accounting systems
High proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel
Willingness to learn new skills and contribute to process improvements
Strong organizational and time management skills
High attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent communication skills (listening, verbal, and written)

Salary : $72,400 - $90,500
