Summer Position - Tenant Support Worker

ROLE PURPOSE    In this position you provide various support to clients within residential community setting to meet the clients emotional, personal and physical needs.  We designed this position to foster learning of its incumbent and will provide hands-on learning opportunities.   Our Supportive Housing program provides safe and secure housing and wraparound support to people at risk of, or experiencing, homelessness. This program offers 24/7 support services that are tailored to the self-identified needs and goals of each resident.   STATUS This is an exempt position. This is a temporary Summer 2024 position for 14 weeks (subject to change).  This position is open to applicants of all genders. This position is subject to Connective receiving funding   HOURS The specific hours of this position are to be determined based on the funding received. Evaluates client needs and develops short term plans to meet such needs with the active participation of residents and their families. Assists residents to function more independently in their own homes and in the community. Assists residents with daily life skills, social skills, and/or behaviour management. Nurtures opportunities and assists residents with activities such as grooming, basic cooking, money management, shopping, household safety, and pet care. Facilitates physical, recreational, educational, social, and vocational activities. Recognizes, analyzes, and deals with potential emergency situations such as aggressive behaviour(s) to minimize potential harm to others and/or the public. Maintains oversight of the building as required to mitigate conflict amongst residents and/or other persons accessing the property. Identifies social, economic, recreational, physical, vocational, and educational services in the community that will meet clients’ needs. Maintains liaison with other agencies, professionals, government officials, and the community. Along with the other residence staff, monitors and ensures effective operation of the facility including quality control concerning cleaning equipment, indoor and outdoor maintenance, inventory, and food services.       QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENRS We seek candidates who meet the following qualifications and requirements: Demonstrated ability to respond efficiently in crisis and escalated situations Ability to work independently Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English Post-Secondary educational background in Social Services/Criminology/Psychology Proof of Covid-19 Vaccination Permanent Residency or Canadian Citizenship Meet all the eligibility requirements as set out by the Canada Summer Grant Professional or lived experience working with vulnerable populations facing multiple barriers Successful completion of a Vulnerable Persons Criminal Records Check/Enhanced Security Clearance and reference checks Current Emergency First Aid Certificate   COMPENSATION Compensation for this position will be $25.95.
