Connell Foley LLP, one of New Jersey’s largest law firms, is seeking a Marketing & Communications Specialist. This role is integral to driving the firm’s marketing initiatives and strategic communications at various levels, including firm-wide, practice groups, and individual attorneys. Key responsibilities of the Marketing & Communications Specialist include content creation, design, production, proofreading, and distribution. The role also involves supporting lawyers in building their profiles through thought leadership, sponsorship opportunities, and award submissions, as well as assisting with business development activities such as research, proposals, and presentations. Reporting to the Director of Marketing, this position is based at the firm's headquarters in Roseland.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with lawyers and Marketing Director on development and execution of meaningful strategic business development and marketing initiatives for attorneys, practice areas and region to help align business strategy and cross-collaboration efforts.
- Build the firm and individual partners' visibility through events, sponsorships, and campaigns; identify opportunities for attorneys to participate in speaking engagements and assist with deliverables.
- Work with Director of Marketing to manage all firm marketing content, including content creation, development, review and distribution, for the firm’s website and social media accounts, and print and digital collateral.
- Conduct online and database research and prepare intelligence reports on clients, qualified prospects, competitors and industries of interest.
- Provide support for new business endeavors, including preparing standard and custom pitch materials, including responses to RFPs and other proposals, and business development presentations.
- Identify and track rankings/awards/survey submissions, and assist in the compilation of annual submissions to outlets such as Chambers, AmLaw, NJBIZ and others, as well as award nominations.
- Assist in drafting, proofing and distributing firm press releases, news and announcements, as well as internal firm newsletter.
- Finalize (including proofreading) and distribute thought leadership content, including articles, alerts, newsletters, blogs, speaking engagements, media mentions, and client-facing guides.
- Manage and grow the firm’s presence on social media through regular updates, effective campaigns, best practices, and lawyer engagement.
- Monitor legal industry communications trends and adopt best practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned or required to meet firm goals and objectives.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in marketing and/or business development, preferably in a law firm or other professional services environment.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Ability to thrive in an electronic environment and utilize technology to deliver information; proficiency in methods of information acquisition, including the use of online information databases, tools and resources.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills; writing samples are required.
- Strong attention to detail, with excellent organizational skills.
- Client service-oriented mindset with strong interpersonal skills, capable of establishing and maintaining effective relationships with personnel at various levels.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, including the ability to prioritize and manage various tasks with high attention to detail.
- Ability to take initiative, adapt to change and work independently in high-pressure, deadline-driven situations while exercising sound judgment and making intelligent, informed decisions.
