KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Plant Manager oversees every aspect of the facility, guiding the entire on-site operational team to ensure a smooth and efficient operation. This role focuses on delivering high-quality products to our customers while also safeguarding the security and functionality of all site assets.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee the facility's operations, including production, shipping/receiving, maintenance, and more.
- Foster a safety-oriented culture that emphasizes adherence to best practices and effective housekeeping.
- Develop a quality-focused culture that aligns with customer requirements.
- Implement continuous improvement strategies through lean manufacturing principles.
- Create budgets and control costs to enhance financial performance.
- Maintain the integrity of the ERP system data and manage the company's assets at the facility.
- Ensure all equipment and facilities on-site are in good working condition.
- Identify and oversee local suppliers for maintenance and other services.
- Serve as the company's representative for local regulatory and compliance matters.
- Supervise staffing, training, and professional development of employees.
- Promote awareness and ensure compliance with all corporate policies.
- Act as an engaged, hands-on leader, setting a positive example within the operation.
- Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
QUALIFICATION, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a technical or business-related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in production or manufacturing environment.
- Background in lumber remanufacturing, wood working and or similar field preferred.
- Working knowledge of lean six sigma methodologies and experience in leading change.
- Analytical thinker with a strong basis on data gathering and analysis.
- Energetic, organized and ability to manage a wide range of projects and priorities.
- Excellent communicator and understanding of importance to ‘do what you say’.
- Familiarity of ERP systems and methods of scheduling, inventory and shipping.
- Strong computer skills with experience in the Microsoft Office suite.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & ATTRIBUTES
- Lumber remanufacturing facility with cutting and assembly equipment.
- Indoor office area with outdoor production and lumber yard management.
- Hearing protection, eyewear and steel-toed shoes required.
- Initial travel expected, including participation in training and possible customer visits.
