Using an assortment of wheels and compounds metal is hand polished using a polishing wheel. Polishing brings out the brightness and luster of the finish, and removes minor imperfections in the surface.
- Use of a bench polishing machine such as the Baldor buffer or similar. (Dayton Bench buffer, Palmgren Bench buffer, etc.)
- Use of a bench polishing machine that requires wheels ranging from 4” to 12” in diameter
- Work with compounds such as Picasso blue, Tripoli MOCO brown, Blizzard white buffing compound, red compound
- Familiarity with wheels such as Scotch Brite 6” hard wheels, felt wheels, yellow buffing wheels, soft wool wheels, Cratex coarse wheels
- Familiar with operations such as buffing, cut & polish, highlighting, finish polishing, grinding, sand blasting / bead blasting, automated polishing
- Experience polishing precious metals - plated or solid
